The victims fell into the mass grave. On 31 December 1941 SS-Untersturmführer Kügler [Security Police, Liepaja branch] reported to SS- und Polizeistandortführer Dr. Dietrich, that twenty-three Communists and 2,731 Jews had been 'executed.'
